Health Habits of Successful Entrepreneurs

In today's stress-filled business environment, a successful entrepreneur needs to maintain his or her energy and vitality in order to be successful. Here are the five most important habits for maintaining a level of health that will help you drive your business... just think about the daily NEWSS:                       

Nutrition.                                                            

It's way too easy to develop a junk food habit when you're sprinting through your day. The first step is to develop the kind of discipline in terms of what you put in your body that you have to use when running your business. I've tried several different nutritional approaches, but the one I find that works best with a fast-paced lifestyle is to cut out the garbage and keep the carbs to a minimum. It's not that hard to keep some veggies around for when you are attacked by The Munchies. You don't need the bread, the pop, and the candy... and you'll soon find you don't miss them. The key, though, is to find a nutritional approach that works for you and that comprises conscious, deliberate choices throughout the day. Tip: eat five small "meals" a day, instead of the traditional three.

Exercise.

Yeah, you gotta just do it. Of course, you don't have time! No one running a business thinks they have time for a serious exercise regimen, but the successful entrepreneurs find a way to do it. So start small: keep it under 30 minutes per day. The key, again, is having the discipline to be consistent. You need to get your heart rate up for 20 minutes a day, at least four days a week (six is much better). Do it first thing in the morning to jump-start your metabolism throughout the day - and within a few days you'll start feeling the benefits. You'll have more energy for the rest of your day's challenges.

Water.

This is my favorite of the five NEWSS habits, because it's the easiest. Just drink 64 ounces of water every day. Two liters is a little more than that; I have a half-liter water bottle and I just make sure to fill and drain it four times a day. Drink a half-liter when you get up in the morning, and another half-liter during your exercise. Then, if you drink another one with breakfast, you're already three-fourths of the way there! If you develop this sort of habit, you'll find it easy to drink at least two (and probably closer to three) liters a day.

Sleep.

I know, I know. You'll sleep when you're dead. However, studies show getting enough sleep each night is a key habit in maintaining the level of vitality you need to be a successful entrepreneur. Again, the superstars find a way to get their eight hours, practically every night. How's the quality of your sleep? It sounds a little goofy at first, but many people have success establishing a "bedtime ritual" that relaxes them and gives them a deeper, more restful sleep each night. If your sleep is not ideal, think about changing your bedtime ritual. Maybe kill the television, or do some breathing exercises instead of reading at bedtime. Give your brain the rest of the day off!

Supplements.

There's just no way your modern, fast-paced lifestyle is affording you the kind of nutrition you need to be at your best. Stick to a disciplined nutritional approach, but hedge your bets by supplementing your diet. You need at least a good multi-vitamin, and maybe some other key supplements. I take a good variety of supplements each day. It has taken me years to work out the regimen that works for me, and I am constantly adjusting my supplements. However, the best starting point is to get a good single supplement that covers most of your basic needs. I heartily recommend a liquid nutraceutical, because it's much easier for your body to absorb and use the nutrients on a cellular level.

Once you've got the daily NEWSS, there are three other practices I think are key: breathing exercises, regular check-ups, and detoxifying cleanses. But if you start with the top five habits, you'll soon find yourself operating at a top level of performance... and, for an entrepreneur, that will bring major benefits to your bottom line.

Metal Detecting For Health and Wealth

was looking for something to do during my golden years that would get me out of the house, away from TV and the Internet, and provide some exercise. Metal detecting definitely fit the bill.

After doing some online research, I decided on what type of detector to purchase, what additional items I would need (knee pads, digger, sand scoop, pin-pointer, batteries and charger) and I was off to find buried treasure.

My initial plan was to metal detect in parks and at schools, but I found myself detecting 99 percent of the time at the beach. So, I purchased a second metal detector that is specifically designed for use in fresh water and salt water.

I found myself going to the beach (for the first time in about 15 years) and loving it. Initially, I was going on the weekends only but soon found myself going every day after work for about one hour and then again for three to four hours on the weekends and holidays.

To my surprise, I found that in about 5 months, I had lost about 20 pounds. All the walking, digging and scooping really got my weight down. I had re-discovered the beaches of Oahu and was having fun and getting trim looking for treasure.

I have not found a lot of treasure but I have found gold and silver rings and necklaces, a lot of coins, and oodles of trash. I have also found my share of Hot Wheels cars, lead fishing weights, video game tokens, rusty nails, hairpins, costume jewelry, and pocket knives.

More importantly I have found a very friendly forum where detectorists from around the world share information and display the booty they have found.

And, most important, I have made good friends with detecting enthusiasts that lived nearby and really enjoy hunting with friends. Being able to try other detectors and learn from more experienced hunters has been a real help for me. I only wish I had discovered metal detecting years ago.

The media is the world's fear monger of the worst kind. Headlines are often misleading and crafted to instill fear to compel people to read or listen. Thus, they create and amass more wealth and power in the guise of helping society.There is no source of poverty or a bad economy. However, you can restrict your natural birth right of abundance by buying into the fear monger's hype - 'The sky is falling. The economy is bad.' If the economy is bad, then, why do many 'powerbrokers,' profit during a so-called bad economy?There is no source of sickness, however, you are constricted from your natural birthright of well-being simply by buying into Western Medicine hype - the flu and colds descend on humans every September without fail. You can expect to have these diseases after age forty, fifty, sixty, seventy and then your life is day-to-day.

Recently, one of my age peers asked me, 'How is your health?' Without hesitation, I answered, 'Perfect, which is true.' The majority of my age peers have followed the prescribed age related infirmities, including, overweight, obesity, high blood pressure, hearing loss, cancer, stroke, etc.

According, to the TV personality, Dr. Oz's health questionnaire, my body health is age 38. However, I wonder if it is truly younger, because my body health is being compared to those 30-something people, whose health has deteriorated more than mine at age 68.

In Esther Hick's book, "Ask and It Shall Be Given," she writes about how it is that people create life through attraction. You create your point of attraction and with your focus of attention. You can tell by your thoughts and feelings what you are creating. If you believe that flu and colds are an inherent fact of life beginning in September, then, that is what you will experience.

Louise Hay, 'You Can Heal Your Body,' identifies the mental causes for physical illness and the metaphysical way to heal them. Hay writes, 'Everything I need to know is revealed to me. Everything I need comes to me. There is no new knowledge. All is ancient and infinite.'

The Universal Laws hold the truth that what we pay attention to and focus on is what we create. Pay attention to and focus on what you want to transpire in your life. Focus your thoughts and actions on what you want instead of what you do not want.

You can create a dream state of a desired outcome. Whether a conscious dream, a daydream or an actual sleep dream, let your dream state be guides for you about your health, wealth and future.

Remember, it is your life. You do not need to buy into what the 'power brokers,' want or to become their pawn. You do not need to buy into what diseases and illness that the pharmaceutical companies and medical profession want you to experience, so as to further their economy at your expense and life.

Which is More Important, Health Or Wealth?

Despite the so much hype going on about making (online or offline), hardly would you find a soul that would simply prefer money to health. Everybody loves money no doubt but I know for sure that if you were giving a chance to take money or health, majority if not all will opt for health.

Imagine a beautiful story of a young man 35 years of age and already own an estate, a world class company a wonderful family and all. But suddenly his doctor diagnosed him to be suffering from an illness that may soon cause him his life. How beautiful a story can his wealth be!

He could have all in the world and yet no great state and well being to show for it. This "beautiful story" man is well compared to another man, who works for him, rents a house in his estate and has no problem at all with his health because he has always been health conscious. Though simple, this man, he lives longer and doesn't face the pain and agony involved when in a state of illness.
Which do you want to belong to? Would it as the "beautiful man" or rather, the "simple man" story?

I challenge you, despite utmost intentions to make money amidst other desires, to give cognizance to your health for now and future. The internet experts in their field of expertise have hardly been heard of to be suffering from a strange illness or disease. They all seem to be healthy, don't they?

There is no secret to it at all, it's just that they are always, and I mean always aware of their health. Being healthy helps to keep them focused and their make their brains function to the fullest possible. This is one of the secrets to their success and victory both online and offline. It's a no-brainer to ever compromise keeping up to date on issues regarding your health.

With common threatening illnesses such as arthritis, cancer, kidney problems, diabetes and so on, you can never be sure which is most dangerous. Anyone of them can really come attacking anytime but you can prevent any beforehand. Of course being abreast with up to date information could be a life saver, serving as a shield against the deadliest of attacks.

How Health and Wealth Co-Relate!

In a previous article, I discussed briefly that in order to get out of your financial dire straits, you have to believe that you can do it. This "belief" has to stem from somewhere. But where? Well, I am going to talk about that right now. People have asked me if there is a correlation between health and financial wealth potential. Well, to be brutally honest, YES! Studies have shown that those who are unhealthy lack the necessary Neuro-pathways that enable higher level creativity and those who are healthy (read: exercise regularly) have more creative potential. Ok, so now what? In order to achieve your true wealth potential, you must first understand this correlation and use it as impetus to getting where you want to.

When we were younger, we were taught many things about life in general. one of these was the statement "Go to school, get a degree and get a good job". Well that "could" be true; at least it is true for many people. What I want to do now is "shift" your paradigm a little and show you a way to increase your earning potential in a way you might not have thought possible.

The Mind Body Relationship

The mind plays a vital role in how you relate to money in a very important way. The subconscious mind regulates the functions of the body like heart rate, respiration, etc. The subconscious mind is always awake and CAN BE PROGRAMMED! The conscious mind goes through a wake/sleep cycle every so many hours each day. If the mind is unhealthy, then it cannot produce the creative energy necessary to make the kind of money you really want. Here is the clincher: If you are in poor health, your mind cannot begin to provide the answers to your need for creativity. summed up: poor health physically = Poor health mentally! That's it in a nutshell.

What to do:

Starting now, begin a exercise program (at the direction of a physician). Walking is a good start. Just before writing this article, I walked 2 miles. After you are in an exercise program for awhile you will begin to feel better about yourself. This is a clue that your mind is following you body into good health. Write down all idea you have about making money in a folio or pad. Talk to people who have made money in various ways and look for ways in every thing you do, follow your passions. If you like to garden, then maybe start a gardening club with dues from the members, The sky is the limit!

Health and Wealth - Are They Related and How Does Your State Measure Up?

I recently began a challenge to help people improve their finances and overall health. People have responded to the challenge but I began to wonder, as I evaluated where people lived who were joining the challenge, if where a person lived affects their overall well being, and if a locations propensities of health and financial well being are related. So I compared the health and credit ratings among the top five states and bottom five states in both health ratings and credit ratings. I decided not to measure wealth, as the extreme wealth of a small percentage of people could skew the entire state. Rather, I felt credit ratings would be a more accurate measure of an individual person's financial health.I didn't begin this process to prove anything or to highlight comparisons, but I found there were a few commonalities when comparing health and credit rankings and the results were both surprising and a little troubling. It seems if a state has a propensity to be healthy, it is also more likely to be more financially secure according to their credit scores, and similarly states that were found to be unhealthy were also more likely to have lower credit scores.

The health rankings above were based on physical activity, tobacco use, access to health insurance, regular doctor visits, number of children in poverty, and regular diet. You can see the obvious correlation between higher credit scores among the healthier states and lower scores among the "unhealthy" states. On a side note that is somewhat disturbing the U.S. ranked 2nd to last on a UNICEF study of "rich" countries regarding the health status of children, and we ranked 3rd to last according to the World Heath Organization among developed countries.

Regarding credit ratings the national average for credit ratings is 680. The ranges in credit scores for the majority of people are from 600-800.

Interestingly no state was found to be ranking high in credit and lower in health rankings, or high in health standings and low in credit ratings. I am sure there are more scientific methods of comparing this data and I realize the overview of a few websites and the information provided is not an in-depth study of all factors involved, but there does seem to be a strong correlation between a states propensities in health and their overall credit rating.


Leading Under Pressure and the Four Quadrants of Health and Wealth

Whether we are starting a new company or we are seasoned executives our entrepreneurs, juggling it all becomes another task in maintaining our leading edge. Stress can be a great source of stamina, providing corporate executives and entrepreneurs the fuel to strive for even higher goals in spite of increased competition, progressively limited resources and the same manpower.I suggest we look at performance and productivity as a matrix in relationship to health, creating the following four quadrants:Quadrant I: Low Health, Low Productivity and PerformancePeople in this quadrant struggle with health problems and are unable to perform and produce. This could relate to an acute condition or an unresolved chronic condition. They may not be able to perform at a high level even if they were committed to doing this because of the status of their health.
Solution I: Focus on resolving the health issues first. Next, catch up with the work demands at stake. If you don't have the physical ability to perform at a high level, you should focus on strengthening your capabilities, then concentrate on improving your performance by setting up tangible goals to maximize productivity.

Quadrant II: Low Health, High Performance and Productivity

Many successful entrepreneurs and business owners are at this stage. Their physical stamina is starting to give in, they may pump many cups of coffee a day to perform at a high level and may be drinking alcohol or taking hypnotics at night to sleep. Burnout is high at this stage where, unless the person focuses on improving his or her health, the system will eventually give in.

Solution II: Maximize The Four Pillars of Biological Health - nutrition, exercise, sleep, and relaxation techniques. If you are the fearless leader, cultivate your body and mind as if you were an athlete: your track is your company, your hurdles are the roadblocks and your javelin throws are your attempts to reach the next level. Once you are able to prioritize your health needs - even if you are already working like three people instead of one - you will be able to become even more efficient and perform at a higher level.

Quadrant III: High Performance, Productivity and Health

Wouldn't we all want to be here? In a healthy state and performing at the highest level. Imagine a marathoner being able to run sprints and come back to a baseline of constant movement. Successful entrepreneurs and executives with full, but manageable, schedules find themselves in this quadrant. This is a great quadrant to be in as we try to venture into new opportunities while mastering multiple responsibilities.

Solution III: Continue all the healthy habits and continue to set up new challenges so as to accomplish them one by one.

Quadrant IV: Low Performance, Productivity and High Health

This is the quadrant of healthy rookies. Someone may be very eager and ready to do the job but inexperienced. Finding a great match of interests and skills with the right job is of essence.

Solution IV: Continue to practice all the healthy habits and seriously consider seeking for coaching, mentoring or new learning opportunities.

Diagnosing the situation is essential to stay ahead of the game, maximizing physical stamina to maximize achievement at each and every level.


Health Care - Wealth Care - Personal Care

Half a year ago, my life was not how I wanted it to be. I was unhappy. I was making stupid decisions and acting on impulse rather than logic. I had been in trouble a few times, and it continued to make me unhappy. Things gradually got worse and worse. Soon, my lack of happiness lead to anger, which lead to depression. I needed a way out of this rut. I was constantly looking for a way to make myself happier, and I was constantly looking for something to aide me in my troubles. For a long while, nothing changed. I was still unhappy. Fortunately, right at the moment I was about to yank out every last bit of my hair, the doorbell rang.

In walked a family friend whom I hadn't seen in ages. As we reminisced and I told her about recent events that had occurred in my life, she told me she had an answer. She went out to her car and returned with a book. The cover was tattered and the spine was a little torn, but it was still intact. "Read this," she said. "It'll change your life." I asked her what it was about and she simply said, "Just read it." After she left, I sat down and opened the book. It was called The Secret, and I'll tell you right now, it changed my life.

As I began reading, I soon learned everything I needed to know about how exactly to flip my life around, and in this article will only be a brief summary.

In a nutshell, the universe works for you. Everything you could ever want or need, you can have. All you have to do is train your mind, which sounds kind of difficult, but it really isn't. Literally, anything you want or ask for you will receive, due to the Law of Attraction. Somehow, one way or another, the universe will work around your thoughts to give you what you want. Period.

Step two: Believe. You must believe you will get what you've asked for. You have to truly know inside your mind that whatever you've asked for is on its way to you. If you see it in your mind, you have to know, soon enough, you will see it in your hands. Use this step by remembering three simple words: Thoughts. Become. Things. Ask for two-hundred dollars and believe you will, in a certain amount of time, receive two-hundred dollars. It's that simple.

Step three: Receive. Be ready to get what you want. Expect what you've asked for to be in your hands shortly. Prepare for what you've asked for. If you want two-hundred bucks, right out a check to yourself for two-hundred bucks. Act like you already have the two-hundred bucks in your hands and you will have two-hundred bucks in your hand.

Positive thoughts have a much higher frequency than negative thoughts because positive thoughts fill you with joy. Joy is another important key factor to effectively applying the secret. Feel good all the time. If involved in a negative situation, turn it into a positive situation and any future situation you will encounter, if using the secret correctly, will also be positive. Again, like attracts like.

The secret does not only apply to money, but relationships, health, and other things as well. The secret literally applies to anything and everything you could ever want or need. All you have to do is ask! It's that easy!

The first time I recognized the secret working for me, I was sitting on my bed in my room reading. Out of no where, I heard a very annoying buzzing sound. We often hear this pronouncement: Health is wealth. For a long time, I didn't understand the significance of this statement. Or I should say that I had only a superficial understanding of this message. Recently, I had been to a doctor's clinic for a consultation. This doctor had displayed several interesting statements about health. One of them said: Wealth can't buy you health. But health can buy wealth. How true! It is in this context that health can be compared to wealth. We can say good health is the foundation on which our life is built. Obviously, if the foundation is weak, the building will collapse.

Looking at another way, health can be considered an asset we possess. We may have many assets like a house, a car, investments etc. But health is the most precious of all of them. The other assets will be useful to us only if the asset called health is sound. There is a proverb in Tamil, one of the ancient languages of India (and of the world) which says that you can do a painting only if there is a wall (to paint on). We have millionaires and billionaires in this world whose state of health will not permit them to taste the food they love or to travel to the places they would love to visit. On the other hand, a poor man with a limited income will be able to savor his favorite dishes if he keeps well.

But the surprising thing is many people neglect to take care of their health. We have a tendency to take things for granted as long as the going is good. We will pay attention to anything only when there is a problem. Maintaining health is very important and if you fail to do so, you may end up with some problem. Getting treatment for curing an illness is something forced on us when we fail to do things for maintaining our health. The proverb 'Prevention is better than cure' is more appropriate for health than for any other situation.

What can you do to maintain good health? Doing three things will make living easy for you.

1) Control your diet: Controlling diet does not mean restricting eating. It simply means to apply your mind to what you eat. It is possible to choose a healthy diet and still eat well. Health is Wealth - Do You Agree?

I agree whole-heartedly with the saying "Health Is Wealth". If a person is not healthy then he or she will find it very difficult or even impossible to enjoy life, even though he or she may be very rich.

If I am asked to choose one from two of the following things, which will I prefer: health without wealth, or, wealth without health? Without hesitation I will choose the former. There is no doubt.

Wealth is generally associated with how much money a person has, that is, how rich he is. An uncle of mine is very rich. He has just about everything anyone can hope for, and some things no one dares to hope for. That is how rich he is. He lives in a huge mansion guarded by huge dobermans and sophisticated burglar alarms. He has expensive cars, furniture, paintings and other rich man's toys. Well, he has everything except good health.

Everywhere he goes he carries with him a bag of medicine. He has to take pills everyday for his weak heart, diabetes and hypertension. He is about sixty years old and has spent his life accumulating wealth. Without doubt he has succeeded in becoming very rich. However he has also succeeded in becoming very unhealthy too. He laments about his lack of health and says that how he wished that he was young and healthy again. Unfortunately, he cannot regain his health again.

This example of wealth without health is not what I want to follow. It is ridiculous to have so much material wealth but being unable to enjoy it. What is the use of money when one has to take so much medicine everyday just to stay alive? How can one enjoy life when one's body is weakened by disease and pain? No wonder my uncle laments so.

Health without wealth is far better. That is what I have now. I do not have to worry even a bit about what I can eat or do. I eat and do what I like because my body is healthy. Of course I do not abuse it by taking drugs or overexerting myself. I take good care of my body. In that way I stay healthy.

With health I can go about my work with joy. If I become rich, then that is fine. Then again, I may lose my riches, but that is all right too. I can always do the things I enjoy whether I am rich or not. I can play games, swim in the sea, climb hills, eat delicious fruits and appreciate the things of this beautiful Earth. This is indeed wealth - to be healthy and joyous.
